  • MERL 4.2.6 Client - FULL Install Download (14.3 MB)

    This is the full install for the MERL 4.2 client. It does not include the database server (see below) and does not include the Resource Library files.

    NOTE: If you already have 4.2 or later on your PC, you do not have to download the Full install. You can download the update above.

  • MERL SQL Express Database Server Download (42.0 MB)

    This is the Microsoft SQL Express Server engine required to run MERL 4.2 in Stand-Alone mode. This install is not required if you plan to connect the MERL Client to an existing server. Please Note: This install requires that Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 and Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework be installed (see below).
  • Resource Library 4.0 Install Download (129.2 MB)

    The Resource Library is a collection of documents that can be used as a reference by Project Engineers when creating an Estimate. The documents can be installed to a local folder, or to a shared network drive if you are in a multi-user environment. Please Note: These documents are also available on CD. Contact Technical support at 906-487-2102 or send e-mail to MERL Support to request a CD.

    The Resource Library includes the following MDOT documents:
    • 2003 Spec Book: The 2003 Standard Specifications for Construction are the basic requirements governing the material, equipment and methods used in construction contracts administered by the Michigan Department of Transportation. These documents include the Spec Book, frequently used Special Provisions, and Supplemental Specs.
    • Bridge Design Manual: The Bridge Design Manual is a compilation of the guidelines and procedures issued by various agencies which bear upon the preparation of bridge plans for the State of Michigan. These have been reviewed and edited, where necessary, to provide a comprehensive and authoritative reference for the bridge engineer.
    • File Manual for Construction Records: This manual will serve as a guide for personnel who are responsible for maintaining this file system in conformance with other file systems throughout the department. The primary purpose of a comprehensive records program is to promote maximum efficiency by use of standard methods and uniform identification. Implementing and maintaining a uniform filing system is the responsibility of the Transportation Service Center (TSC) Manager, Region Delivery Engineer, and Resident/Project Engineer in their areas of responsibility.
    • Density Control Handbook: This handbook has been prepared for training Michigan Department of Transportation construction technicians, and for on-the- job reference concerning density testing procedures for soils and Hot Mix Asphalt (bituminous) mixtures. It reflects current Michigan Department of Transportation practice, as based on past experience and on recognized national standards in testing procedure.
    • Material Source Guide: This manual has been prepared to give information and guidance to personnel associated with sampling, testing and inspection of materials used in Michigan Department of Transportation and Federal Aid Secondary projects. Its purpose is to supplement the Materials Quality Assurance Procedures Manual, Procedures Manual for Bituminous Plant Inspection, Procedures for Aggregate Inspection, Density Control Handbook, and the Michigan Construction Manual to standardize procedures and assure adequate, uniform quality control.
    • Road Design Manual: The Road Design Manual is a compilation of the guidelines and procedures issued by various agencies which bear upon the preparation of road plans for the State of Michigan. These have been reviewed and edited, where necessary, to provide a comprehensive and authoritative reference for the road engineer.

    Resource Library documents require the installation of a PDF viewer such as Adobe Acrobat® Reader 6.0 or above. You may visit the Adobe Acrobat® Reader Download Page to download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Foxit Reader 2.0 Download
    Resource Library documents require the installation of a PDF viewer such as Foxit Reader 2.0. Foxit Reader 2.0 is a free PDF document viewer and printer, with incredible small size (only 1.5 M download size), breezing-fast launch speed and amazingly rich feature set. Foxit Reader 2.0 supports Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003. Its core function is compatible with PDF Standard 1.6.
